The Grant Hill/FILA Basketball Camp in Detroit

Grant and FILA joined six years for total financial funding for this camp that helps young children maintain a positive balance of academics and athletics. This camp is geared to kids in the inner city of Detroit.

The mission for the camp is to teach kids how to play basketball, develop teamwork and sportsmanship skills, and incorporate academic and social skills which will provide students with a well-rounded summer enrichment program.

Grant Hill Achiever Scholarships

The purpose of the Grant Hill Scholarship is to assist students from Detroit in pursuit of an undergraduate education. These scholarships are available to Detroit Public High School students. Grant awarded 4 scholarships in 1999.

Habitat for Humanity – Metro Detroit

Grant and his family and his friends assisted in rebuilding Detroit’s community by joining with the Habitat for Humanity to build a home, “The Grant Hill House”, for a responsible low-income family.

Detroit Meals on Wheels

Helps support homebound seniors by providing meals during the holidays

Grant Hill/Detroit Pistons Pennies-A-Point

Proceeds benefit the Special Olympics

Spokesperson for renovating Detroit’s parks and playgrounds

Shoot For A Cure -Detroit

Shoot for a Cure is a volunteer-driven fundraiser to benefit the Will Robinson Neurosurgery Fund at Henry Ford Hospital which provides funds to further research and treatments of neurosurgical diseases. This local campaign featured Grant in a TV PSA.

PSA – Black History Month (Radio)

Grant and GMC joined to celebrate Black History Month and nationally broadcasted three radio PSAs.

PSA – Newspaper Association of America’s

The National Literacy Campaign featured Grant in national TV and Print Ads holding the Sunday edition of the Detroit News and Free Press to encourage kids and adults to read newspapers. Other celebrities featured in this campaign were LL Cool J and Brandy.

PSA – National Safe Kids Campaign

During Halloween, Grant and Nestle promoted the importance behind pedestrian safety awareness in a TV PSA.

Damon J. Keith Collection

A financial contribution donated to the Damon J. Keith Collection of African American Legal History. Judge Damon Keith, senior judge of the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, created this collection to bring together for the first time the substantial historical accomplishments of African-American lawyers and judges.
