1. Is this scholarship open to African-Americans students only?
The Something All Our Own scholarship is open to ALL students.


2. If I am already enrolled in a college can I still apply for this scholarship?
Yes, absolutely, you can apply for this scholarship if you are already enrolled in college.


3. Do the artwork submissions have to be of African-American art?
No, a portfolio of 10 completed works of art in any medium or ten 35mm slides will be accepted for consideration of this scholarship.  Please review the scholarship application for recommendations on preparing your portfolio for submission.


4. What is the deadline for the Something All Our Own scholarship?

5. Do I need to be an art major to qualify for this scholarship?

All students pursuing a degree in visual arts will be considered for this scholarship and are invited to apply.

6. Can the 10 pieces of artwork be copied from the original?
Portfolio submissions and 35mm slides will be accepted in any medium. Select artwork that demonstrates your ability to use color and composition. It should be representative of your achievements to date and should demonstrate your creativity and capacity as an artist.  Select a medium to submit your artwork that best shows your ability and greatest strengths. 


Remember: Your artwork and ability will be compared to other applicants so be sure to submit work the best way possible for consideration.

8. Will my artwork be returned?

All applications and artwork portfolios and slides submitted for this scholarship WILL NOT be returned.


9. Is this art scholarship available for international students?

Foreign students may apply for this scholarship. However, the student MUST attend a school in the United States. 


10.  Is there an age limitations for this scholarship?

No, there is no age limitation, but you need to be enrolled in college.


11.  Do the Reference letters have to be submitted in the English language?

All letters of reference should be submitted in the English language or be legally translated into English for consideration.


12.  I am attending college part-time. Do I qualify?

Yes, part-time students do qualify.


13.  Is this scholarship available to current college students?

Yes, this scholarship is available to current college students.


14.  Can I apply for the scholarship if enrolled in a 2-year or 4 year program?

Yes, you can apply if you are enrolled in a 2 year or 4 year program.


15. Are scanned images of original work on CD's acceptable?
Yes, as long as the images are in JPEG or TIFF file format.
